It all started with construction paper and excessive amounts of tape as a young kiddo. These days as an adult (sort of! Ha!) I express my creativity through photography. Every day I wake up grateful that my creative side meshes so well with my passion for people and turned into this dream into a career.
Happy Wednesday everyone! Whew what a weekend it was for me. I posted two articles on my blog here and here that have brought in a lot of traffic and questions. One of the things that was asked frequently was how do I edit? What do I use? I’m happy to share and pass on what I know.
For me, the post processing starts during the session, in that moment I snap the photo. I try my BEST to take the photo exactly as I want it to look in it’s final state. I do not like to spend hours editing, so the closer I can get my images straight out of camera (SOOC) the easier and quicker it is to edit and deliver my images to my clients!
I edit 90% of my work with Mastin Labs. Check it out if you like my style, they are amazing presets to use in Lightroom and a game changer for sure .
The left is my before, the right is my after! I love seeing before and afters so I hope you do too. Let me show you how I got to the final product.
– Apply the preset Fuji 400H.
– Apply the “all soft” preset
– Increase the temperature by +508
– Increase the tint by +3
– Apply the lens correction preset
– Decrease the exposure by .12
And that’s it! This edit took about 20 seconds which I think is pretty good.
If you have any questions please feel free to ask. I will post another editing in Lightroom post when the SOOC doesn’t come out as well as I’d hoped and I have to do a bit more work in Lightroom.

I’ve been curious about Mastin presets – thanks for such an informative post!
You are welcome!
Love the look! It’s so cool how much can be done in Lr! 🙂
I know, right!
Lovely! I have always wanted to try Mastin Labs. I definitely do now! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
You are welcome!!
Thank you for the quick instruction.
You bet!
Perhaps you’re already aware, but basic edits, or even preset edits can be very easily synced to all images in a given series. It makes batch editing to get the basics down very fast. Your 20sec basic for one image can go for the other 20 or 30, then you can use the saved tome to concentrate on finer edits to individual images.
Yes I am aware! That is so helpful for batch editing!
I love the concept of SOOC. I always feel like half the battle is editing, but if you plan to edit minimally then I’m sure the quality of work is 100x more productive!
Exactly 😉
Lightroom really is such an amazing tool. Once I figured out the batch editing in lightroom It cut my editing and turn around time by A LOT!! I have seen Mastin Presets and they look really nice! Thank you for sharing the before and after shots! I love the photo too Stunning posing!
