It all started with construction paper and excessive amounts of tape as a young kiddo. These days as an adult (sort of! Ha!) I express my creativity through photography. Every day I wake up grateful that my creative side meshes so well with my passion for people and turned into this dream into a career.
Happy Tuesday! I am so happy to finally share this photography project with you all. I have been working behind the scenes on it for a while now. I have been teasing this project with a few photos here and there on social media, but now it time for the full unveiling.
The basics of the project centers around empowering women. I have asked each women I photograph for this project to pick a color that they think represents who they are. I have them fill out a few questions and then they get all dolled up and have their makeup done by the wonderful Keren Salsgiver! After that we head to a beautiful location and have a photography session.
My goal is to help women feel beautiful in their own skin, and to show who they really are to others and to let them know that they are enough. Through these women stepping out of their shell and letting me capture their inner beauty I hope to empower other women.
Sometimes words fail us. We do not know how to express ourselves, or perhaps we are too afraid to tell others how we really feel, or who we really are, on the inside. Color is so powerful and can speak louder than words. Color also taps into our unconsciousness and our emotions, affecting us, and others in ways we do not even realize. I wanted to start this project to help women show who they are on the inside, without having to necessarily use word or some huge gesture or prove themselves to anyone. I want women to feel empowered, and be free to be themselves.
Color is empowering.
I have title this project “Colors of your heart” with the goal of women, showing other women, that being vulnerable and open is beautiful. I invite you to follow along on this journey!
On Thursday, I will be posting images and a Q&A from Cami, who was the first beautiful women I was able to capture images of for this project. So be sure to check out my blog later on this week.
